It's a challenge for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have been successfully scaled.

This is the team that has won seven Cricket World Cups, along with six more T20 titles, and previously enjoyed over three years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, those for the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a side that has won it all.

That it took up to Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, reclaiming their record for the largest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the pitchers that have worn canary yellow over five decades.

It's difficult for their hitters to maintain a record if not provided the possibility.

In the end, the consequence of Australia allowing 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy being given a platform to deliver her most recent brilliance.

Then best known as the young family member of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her nation didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups held the previous year and has witnessed all through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 World Cup win happened three months after her first appearance and seven world titles have come from 10 tries across formats.

The tough gloveman was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India momentarily interrupted the run of success.

That loss "pushed us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy said this week.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the championship match and was awarded tournament MVP. She made sure her country would not fail again.

Whether this newest brilliant performance surpassed that earlier display can be debated.

Some will argue the argument supporting championship match pressure. Others can counter with the test that comes when confronting a historic chase and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was much more difficult to anticipate.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 occurred when she was the highest scorer, but this innings was preceded by six games in India over the past few weeks in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've been watching me in training, it's been a disappointing period because I feel like I lacked timing completely," commented Healy.

"Yet the moment you enter the playing area, your competitive instincts activate and you just lock into the contest."

Healy's competitive nature has continuously been her great strength - and an invaluable trait in succeeding legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, fallen to the emerging pace bowler in every game, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's motivation.

One run resulted off the opening delivery and from there the right-hander was on her way.

"An opportunity to take the field and engage in competition with her and just have a bit of fun that way, somewhat inspired me," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 pitches - her quickest at the global tournament - and her ton in 84 as she attacked short-pitched balls, scoring 21 fours and three sixes.

Once she was removed Australia required another 66 at one run per ball - an achievable target now needing a comfortable finish.

"Chasing 330 runs is unfamiliar ground so I'm pleased we have the belief to accomplish that now," continued Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it another time but, should it happen, we are confident we can do it."

These statements will be the last rival teams at this tournament want to hear.

During the last week a belief they will win from any position has only strengthened - this triumph following win against Pakistan by 107 runs despite sitting at 76-7 at one stage.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before an encounter with old rivals England in Indore in ten days, by which point a last-four spot may probably be guaranteed.

During that phase they exited last year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a game Healy missed because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the inaugural occasion at an important competition.

So great is her will, she subsequently stated she wished she had played with the discomfort.

However although she later admitted those injuries have pushed back plans to retire, this World Cup is likely to be her concluding event as leader in ODI cricket and she is still to achieve a world championship as skipper.

Success in India would take her to the summit of her last major obstacle.
